Seafoods was originally founded as M.S. Intertrade in 1993.
Recognizing a need
for a high-quality, centeroftheplate seafood
entrees, we developed a line of products under the Sonoma Seafoods
Brand Label.
We decided to raise the bar and provide our customers
with a fresh product, delivered directly to their door via FedEx and UPS.
This would prove to be very popular and Sonoma Seafoods evolved from there.
In 2002, we expanded beyond seafood with Sonoma Foods, extending our product
line to include poultry, pork, and beef.
Our corporate offices and main plant are
located in Santa Rosa, California, in the heart of Sonoma County
Wine Country, just one hour north of San Francisco. We are always
willing to conduct tours of all of our facilities if you are in the area,
and we can also provide some suggestions for visiting this beautiful
Northern California area.
As
the demand for our products increased, we realized one plant located
on the West Coast could not supply all our customers as efficiently
as we would like. So in 2000 we expanded our business by building
a plant in Elgin, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. We knew it was
crucial to provide the same great products and fast service both
locally and nationwide, and by creating a hub in the center of
the nation, we would be able to provide our east coast customers
with continued great service.
In January, 2006, we opened our newest, largest facility to date -- in Sparks, Nevada. This expansion has allowed us to significantly increase our volume, while containing costs.
Our plants produce close to 20,000 stuffed portions
per day and we employ over 100 people. We currently ship to more than 2,000
retail stores and have been successfully delivering orders via
FedEx and UPS for 10 years.
The main players on our team have combined
experience of 60-plus years in the industry.
Scott Gray, Matt Mariani, and Charles
Hansen, the founders of MSI, bring a great deal of experience and
integrity to the company. They have almost 40 years of combined experience in the
Seafood Industry and a commitment to customers and quality, not
often found in the food business.
Jack Rhodes, our National Sales Manager,
has worked in the retail side of the business for more than 40
years. He delivers a unique perspective to our retail division
that has proven invaluable both for MSI and for the customer.
Cheri Rhodes, our East Coast Sales Manager, started off in California's wine industry and decided to join Sonoma Seafoods after a successful co-marketing project. While still based on the West Coast, she travels throughout the Midwest and Eastern United States, working closely with our existing and potential customers.
