Our Guarantee

After the great effort we put into making sure the products we make are of the best quality, we found in our early years of business that very often our quality was compromised while our products traveled in the shipping and distribution channels of our wholesale and retail customers.

As a result, we started looking for a better way to deliver our products nation-wide. With time being a major factor in distribution of Sonoma Seafoods products, it was only natural we look to Federal Express for the solution.

We combined our efforts with the shipping professionals at FedEx and UPS packaging professionals from UC Davis to create our FedEx Fresh Program. For more than a decade, our Fed Ex/UPS program has flourished , and we now rely on it to deliver to over 2,000 retail stores on a regular basis.

THE ORDERING PROCESS
The FedEx/UPS/DSD Fresh program features a twice-a-week delivery option. Our stuffed seafood entrees, specialty cakes, appetizers and burgers are delivered Wednesdays and Fridays. All shipments are sent via a two–day transit and are guaranteed to arrive at 42° F or less. Our operators begin calling the customers as early as 6 AM PST and will finish at 11 AM PST on Mondays and Wednesdays. The orders that are placed on Monday will arrive at the stores the following Wednesday by 4 PM, and orders placed on Wednesday arrive on Friday by 4 PM.

Ordering tips: Most of our customers mix and match a variety of items into fishtheir orders and shipments. Sonoma Seafoods representatives confirm the orders by repeating it to the customer on the line. We recommend that the wholesale or retail customer's seafood manager place orders. This reduces confusion and also reduces the possibility of over–shipments and costly mistakes. If this is not possible, we recommend that the seafood manager informs co–workers or staff which products they prefer and in what quantity, before placing orders.

Once all the orders are taken for a customer, they are invoiced and sent to production to be packed.

OUR PRODUCTION:
All of our products are prepared on the day that they are shipped. Production starts at 4 AM PST, as the staff fillets the fish, shreds cheese, and sautés the garlic and onions that are used in the stuffing. By 2 PM PST the fresh orders have been packed in styrofoam–lined, corrugated boxes that contain special ice gels to keep them fresh and intact while in transit.

Every aspect of our box has been designed to keep the product cold and attractive. The ice gels, insulation, and even the shape of the box preserves the integrity of our entrees, keeping them cold and protecting them until they reaches their final destination.

Our computers are linked to the mainframe computers at Federal Express and UPS. After lunch, we begin to see the first FedEx and UPS trucks arriving to pick up the product. By 6 PM PST all of our orders have been filled and are en route to our customers.

THE PRODUCT PACKS
The Seafood Buyer from each customer division determines the product line for their stores. We offer a variety of different pack options. Our most popular pack is the two–portion tray, also known as the 17-S tray, wrapped, labeled and ready to sell. The portions are six ounces each, and the product has a shelf–life of seven to nine days from the day it is received. The 17-S tray is labeled with all the nutritional information, cooking instructions, and ingredients statements. For more information on our complete product line, see our Product Information page.
